Active Physio has joined forces with Portsmouth Sports Injury Clinic, located in the Mountbatten Centre, Alexandra Park, Portsmouth. Following a 25 million pound development to the Mountbatten Centre and plans for the centre to be used as an London 2012 Olympic training venue the clinic is ideally situated to significantly expand and become the regional centre for the treatment of sports injuries.
Ashley possesses a strong background in sport and exercise physiology and nutrition. He is chartered with the Society of Physiotherapy and state registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Ashley originally undertook a BSc in Exercise and Health Science at the University of Portsmouth, with a subsequent Masters programme in Sports and Exercise Physiology at University College Chichester. Whilst at Chichester Ashley spent a large amount of time teaching undergraduate Sports Science students within the realms of physical conditioning, nutrition and environmental physiology. Ashley transferred to the University of Winchester as Programme Leader for Sports Studies and lectured all integral physiological components, including sports injuries and their management.
Ashley then undertook a masters programme in physiotherapy at the University of Southampton, he has worked for the NHS and various other private clinics throughout the region. Ashley has treated a number of elite sports professionals and specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of lower limb injuries. He continues to lecture on sports injuries on various undergraduate degree programmes within Hampshire. He is also the technical expert overseeing the development of new sport and leisure qualifications taught in colleges nationwide for VTCT.
